About the Armed Response Team
The Armed Response Team (also called ART) was formed by a group of actual Albuquerque Police Department Officers. These officers lived the everyday frustration of not being able to quickly respond to burglar alarms. This is a common problem in cities like Albuquerque, and it stems from the huge growth in home and commercial alarm systems, and the very high rate of false alarms.
The idea of our service was the brain child of Sergeant Phil Baca from the Albuquerque Police Department. Sgt. Baca grew frustrated watching his squad of officers juggle all the demands on their time, while trying to provide a prompt response to alarm calls. As a result, he found the average response time for his officers to alarms was 90 minutes or more. He felt there has to be a better answer for the public, and that was the impetus for the Armed Response Team.
Our Armed Response Team officers do one thing - and only one thing. We are the first responders for the alarms of our clients, and this allows us to get to your location fast! Our officers have extended their law enforcement careers by becoming full-time responders for the Armed Response Team. Rather than have these officers retire and move on to other jobs, our clients now benefit from all the training and professionalism of having "Albuquerque's Finest" provide you an extra level of protection from crime.
The Armed Response Team also offers professional local alarm monitoring including smoke, fire and panic alarms. Our monitoring professionals also handle the radio dispatching of our officers, just like it's done through the police dispatch center.
ART also has a technical service group. staffed full-time with experienced alarm technicians. We can do everything from re-programming and servicing your existing alarm system, installing new residential or commercial alarms, all the way through elaborate access control and intelligent video systems.
Our officers are led by Captain Gil Chavez. Gil served 4 years in the US Marine Corps, and then 17 years with the Albuquerque Police Department. He retired in 2005 from the police department and immediately came to work with ART. His leadership, and that of his fellow colleagues from the police force, distinguishes the Armed Response Team from all other security and alarm companies in the area.
