The Armed Response Team Received the Innovate Albuquerque Entrepreneur/Small Business Award
Phil Baca, President of the Armed Response Team, accepted the Greater Albuquerque Chamber Commerce Innovate Albuquerque Entrepreneur/Small Business Award on February 21, 2006.
Albuquerque Armed Response Team, founded in 2002, is a company made up of retired Albuquerque Police Department (APD) officers who provide the Albuquerque metropolitan area with an immediate armed response to burglar alarms.
This company has created an innovation that is going to spread from Albuquerque across the country. Police departments are inundated with burglar alarm calls, 95% of them are false alarms, and police departments do not have the manpower to respond immediately to such calls. Albuquerque Armed Response Team fills this niche and provides this service to the Albuquerque community by employing retired Albuquerque Police Department (APD) officers to respond, thereby taking the burden off APD. The benefits for Albuquerque include a safer community, customer satisfaction by both commercial and residential customers, and an unburdened police department.
There is no other company in any city in the United States using this concept. In most cities, there are private security firms that use private security guards, not trained police officers, to respond to alarms.
Albuquerque Armed Response Team also gives retired police officers a productive second career, allowing them to continue to use their skills for the benefit our local community.
APD police officers love the service because they know the person responding to an alarm call is a professional, and if the Albuquerque Armed Response Team calls for APD backup, they know how to work together.
